Q. How long have you been carving pumpkins? Various members of the staff have been carving for different lengths of time. The display on Third Street has been around for ten years.
Q. When do you start? Usually about two weeks before Halloween, Wade heads out to Hlubik's Farm to start picking up pumpkins. They are poked and cleaned over the next week. Carving begins about a week before Halloween, and continues until the last pumpkin is carved on Halloween night.
Q. How many will you carve? We don't have a specific number in mind; we just keep carving until we run out of pumpkins...or room.
Q. How long does each pumpkin take? That depends on the size of the pumpkin, and the difficulty of the pattern. Some of the simple designs can be done in a few minutes, while more complex ones can take several hours to complete.
Q. Where do you get your patterns? Some of our designs are custom made by our team. We also get a lot of patterns from online sites. You can see some of our sources on the "Links" page.
Q. Where do you get your pumpkins? Hlubik's Farm in Chesterfield, New Jersey provides all the pumpkins we use.
Q. What do you do with the "guts"? All the innards are taken back out the farm for the cows. After Halloween, the pumpkins are again scraped out and cleaned of the candles and wax, and they go back to the farm as well.
